Forgetting

Thinking about those harsh words, unfair snarky comments
it doesn’t hurt anymore
Then why can’t I forget the moment when it happened

I can still feel the sting of the words as they land on my ears
And tremble with fear as the words are hurled at me
I wake drenched in sweat for I can have been screaming in my dreams
Yelling at someone to stop the unfairness
As they all stand astounded doing nothing
Saying nothing

It doesn’t hurt anymore
And yet I cannot forget

Does my not forgetting
Have anything to do with my not completing forgiving
